"Rashad Malik Davis is a treasure.  He spent the day with our First through Third grade students reading his books, talking about his journey, and answering student questions.  Rashad’s energy is contagious, and his warmth immediately welcomed all the students.  Our students were especially excited to know that he also attended Slackwood School, and made his message that you can achieve your dreams all the more real to our students.  

Not only is Rashad willing to share his journey and masterful storytelling, he is also generous with his time.  Each of our third graders received books, and Rashad personalized them for each student.  Today, the day after his visit, students are still talking about what they learned and how they read their books already.  Teachers are asking when he can come back because of the inspiration he is to both children and adults.  Parents even came to me today to tell me how their children talked about his visit when they went home from school.  Rashad’s generosity, brilliance, talent and charisma made a deep and lasting impact on everyone in our school, and we cannot wait to see him again."
